3/29/2024 0 Comments Midland radio programming 6 meterThese radios were built in Japan by Hitachi-Denshi for Midland's LMR division. I'm good on QRZ or direct at KF5LCH at yahoo dot com. All in the name of keeping these great old radios on the air for a little while longer. I have the equipment and would be more than willing to program your EPROM. The EPROM has to be erased to clear off old data and you need a Midland EPROM reader/writer to enter new data. The biggest drawback to these rigs is the archaic programming. Repeater Builder has a good list of model #'s. Just make sure to check the model number. These radios come in all flavors and can be made to work in the 2 meter, 6 meter, 10 meter and 70cm amateur bands with little effort. They actually have a real receiver and you can get the RX sensitivity way down with some minor tuning. I have numerous Syntech radios, all are excellent performers. You can tell they were built in an era when human beings actually took pride in what they did for a living. The craftsmanship inside these rigs is absolutely stunning. Here's the bottom line: You will be hard pressed to find a better built mobile radio. Once you get your hands on some quality commercial FM gear, you'll never go back to a hammy grade radio. What more do you need? Don't be fooled by bells & whistles. 25uV RX sensitivity, two scan lists & they're DIRT CHEAP. Midland 70-340B moved to 2 meter amateur.
